Getting organised and unmanaging time

I sat down the other night to do some work and planning for my week and when I looked down at my clock two hours had gone by seemingly unnoticed. I was busy with organising my email and sending responses to clients and just plain catching up. I was in such a rush to get things done so that I can take time to relax and chill a little and I found that I still had so much to do.

Time seems to be running away and it seems that the years are moving faster than every before. What we got accomplished in a day a few years back seems much more than now. Either the demands are higher or we are getting distracted by unimportant tasks and social media and the likes. Now you even want to make time to read this email and some of you may not get to it…

We are processing information at such a high rate that we need to become aware of what is affecting us. Have you noticed that you may be getting tired much easier or perhaps erratic sleep patterns or even surges of energy?

I have taken some time to provide some practical tips in managing yourself during this time of accelerated demands on the human energy system. Your ability to apply the correct strategy to life that works for you will enhance the quality of your life.

1. Get organised

If you don’t have files for your paperwork or folders for your emails and documents – get it done now. Don’t wait. Set some time aside to do this. As soon as you receive information that is relevant and you want to keep – file it. This will get you to save time when you are looking for information that you need.

2. Identify what is most important for you
You cannot waste time any longer on low priority things. Identify for yourself what your priorities are, what puts a smile on your face, what gets you moving, what inspires you and focus your time and energy on that. Say NO to the things that drain your energy and yes to things that uplift your energy. Create a plan and stick to it.

3. Make time for yourself
Plan for time in your day or in your week that’s real ‘me’ time. Do this NOW! Go to your diary right now and set some time for you and something that is important. If it’s a massage or a walk in the park – plan for it.

4. Clear out
This is the ideal time to clear out clutter and get rid of the things you don’t need. If you are still holding on to stuff for the wrong reasons then begin to identify how you can let these things go. Anything that takes attention consciously or unconsciously will deplete your energy.

5. Learn to manage your energy
We are influenced by so much electromagnetic effects from what is going on in our unnatural environment these days. Ensure you are taking enough time to connect with nature. 20 to 30 minutes every day either morning or evening standing barefoot on the grass will re-connect you to the pulse of the earth. It also supports proper immune function and balancing of your emotional and mental energy.

6. Manage your emotional state
Support your body to release emotive energy that is stored in your body or your emotional system. Allow yourself some time to be mindful of what is going on inside your body – cry when you need to cry and laugh when you need to laugh. Emotive energy that is not released will add to your energetic drain, emotional mood swings and mental confusion. A simple way you can use to manage your emotional state is to identify what gets you into a great mood and do it.

7. Increase the level of water rich food into your diet
Drink more water and less of anything else. Water is the universal solvent and a powerful neutraliser and detoxifier. Waking up first thing in the morning and drinking a couple of glasses of water before anything else will support your body to rid unwanted toxins. Reduce the intake of carbohydrates, sugars and acidic foods in your diet. These dehydrate your body and effect your energy levels and effectiveness as a human being. The ideal is to consume no less than 70% of your diet with plant based water rich foods.

8. Get enough rest
Consider the quality of your sleep as well as the quantity. Take 10 to 15 minutes aside before you go to sleep to connect with the earth or relax your mind through any relaxation or breathing technique. You will find you sleep deeper and enjoy a better quality sleep. Your sleep pattern may be affected by stress in your body that you don’t know is there just because of the pace that you are living your life. Take time and slow your system down so that it can recharge properly when you rest.

9. Use the power of context creation
A sure way to manage your time better is the ability to apply universal principles to work in your favour. Hard work and effort pays off and it is much easier to apply the laws of nature to work for you. Use the power of your will to create your day. Visualise and affirm who you want to be in every moment of the day.

My wish is that you choose just one of these for this week and use it as a tool to gain increased levels of satisfaction and joy in your life.
